We are seeking a highly motivated M.Sc. student in Metamorphic Petrology and Geochronology to investigate potential linkages between metamorphism and gold mineralization (+/- antimony) in the east-central Newfoundland Appalachians using garnet geochronology. The candidate will be based at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada and will be expected to regularly attend group meetings at the University of Ottawa and the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) in Ottawa, actively collaborate with the research team, and submit results to a peer-reviewed journal. The position will involve laboratory analyses at the University of Ottawa and the GSC, as well as possible fieldwork in the fall of 2025 and summer of 2026. This study forms part of ongoing research at the GSC into the distribution and genesis of gold deposits in the Canadian Appalachians, with implications for exploration strategy.
