Duties

Your days will include:
• Shadowing the Finance/Accounting team to gain insights into their operations.
• Performing accounting functions such as voucher entry and receipt processing.
• Entering data from multiple sources into various systems.
• Managing administrative tasks including scanning, filing, and other duties.
• Mail collection and delivery.
• Provide administrative support to finance and administration department as needed.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to hire one student for summer 2025.

The results may also be used in the future to fill other temporary student vacancies that may arise in the Western Newfoundland and Labrador Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, depending on status of the selected candidate.

Education:
Open to students currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary school in an accredited institution and/or those participating in adult education and retraining programs at the secondary level, operated under the authority of an accredited academic institution.

Degree equivalency

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

English or French

Information on language requirements

Knowledge
• Basic knowledge of financial principles and accounting concepts.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Personal Suitability
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
• Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed

Operational Requirements
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment.

Conditions of employment

• Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance.
• Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
