This position is critical to the continued delivery of road maintenance operations within Fundy National Park, and other Parks Canada locations in New Brunswick.
This Maintenance Coordination position directly supervises other heavy equipment operators, and a labour force for all road maintenance work for Parks Canada in Southern NB. Roadways include the section of Route 114 inside Fundy National Park, and about 85 km of chipseal and gravel roadways. In addition to roads, many parking lots, access roads, and campground infrastructure fall under this team for regular maintenance activities. Aside from road maintenance this position is responsible for the firewood program in Fundy National Park and solid waste collection and removal. This position requires frequent and familiarized use of Microsoft Outlook for email, and other programs such as Word and Teams. The coordinator will be issued a work phone and must be familiar with using it for communication by email, teams, and text messaging.
Duties include:
• Plan, lead, supervise, and monitor work crews conducting semi-skilled repair, maintenance, and labour tasks.
• Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment such as plows, loaders, backhoes, excavators, graders, and tandem trucks for road maintenance, construction, and winter operations.
• Coordinate work schedules, inspections, and asset monitoring to ensure safe and effective use of equipment and labour resources.
• Develop and enforce workplace safety policies, procedures, and best practices to comply with Parks Canada and occupational health and safety standards.
• Supervise and mentor staff, managing performance, training programs, and disciplinary actions as required.
• Prioritize work orders and ensure work logs for labour and resources are completed and submitted for the road maintenance team.
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.
The Asset Team in Southern New Brunswick consists of a variety of seasonal and year-round positions which are responsible for all maintenance and operational support related to infrastructure. The team consists of multiple sections including:

• Electrical/Mechanical Section
• Water/Wastewater and Compliance Section
This position would lead the Road Maintenance and Operations Section and report to the Asset Manager for Southern New Brunswick. All positions work out of the Maintenance Compound in Fundy National Park, adjacent to Alma, NB. This position would have office space within the Road Maintenance Building. There is a maintenance garage and mechanic on site. The road maintenance team has a variety of heavy equipment, medium and lights trucks assigned to this section. There are also various storage structures for firewood and other supplies in the compound.

1. A minimum of three (3) years of experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., plow trucks, graders, loaders, backhoes, tandem trucks) in road maintenance, construction, and snow/ice clearance.
2. Experience supervising and leading a team (equipment operators and labourers).
3. Experience in workforce planning, scheduling, and performance management.
4. Experience in construction and maintenance-related labour tasks, including material handling, minor repairs, and site preparation.
5. Experience applying workplace safety protocols and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
