We are observing the Law Society of Alberta’s Articling Student Recruitment Guidelines for the 2026-2027 Articling Year:
- The deadline for applications to the Edmonton and Calgary office is 11:59 PM MDT on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
- Interviews will take place between Monday, June 2, 2025 and Monday June 9, 2025.
- Offers will be made after 8:00 AM MDT on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
INFORMATION YOU MUST PROVIDE:

- Law school transcript. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted, with official marks to follow when received.
Applications that do not contain all of the above-mentioned documents will be considered incomplete. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
The intent of the process is to establish a pool of candidates at the LP-00 (Articling Student) group and level.
Candidates who qualify and are selected for admittance into the Program will be appointed to a determinate (term) appointment at the LP-00 group and level.
Candidates who successfully complete the Program will be placed in the departmental National Inventory from which a determinate (term) or indeterminate (permanent) appointment can be made.
Appointments resulting from this process will be made under the Justice Canada LP-01 Training and Development Program. This program provides for the progression of participants from LP-00 (articling student) to LP-02 (counsel) over approximately 5 years. As such, it is expected that an initial appointment to this program would ultimately result in an indeterminate non-advertised LP-02 appointment (subject to meeting all program requirements).

Successful completion of a Bachelor of Law Degree (at time of appointment)
Eligible for articles pursuant to the rules of the Law Society of (Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba)
Demonstrated academic experience

Proven academic experience.
Experience working in a legal environment.
Experience volunteering or participation in extra-curricular activities.
