A pool of partially and/or fully qualified candidates may be created to staff permanently or temporarily similar or identical positions within Transport Canada.

EDUCATION

ED: A secondary school diploma, and
Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma/degree in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to aircraft maintenance.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

OC: A valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Licence.

EXPERIENCE

EX: Recent* experience working as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) with Certifying Authority in a Canadian Maintenance or Manufacturing Organization, including the performance of complex activities in a wide variety of situations while demonstrating an increasing level of responsibility.

*Recent: experience acquired within the last 7 years.

ASSET EXPERIENCE

AEX1: Experience in one or more of the following:
- Rotorcraft operations (Airline, Air Taxi or Recreational Aircraft)
- Fixed wing operations (Airline, Air Taxi or Recreational Aircraft)
- Manufacturing
- Avionics Maintenance and Repair
- Non-Destructive Testing
- Repair or modifications of structures (sheet metal, tubular, composite, etc.)
AEX2: Experience in the supervision or management of quality programs that include quality control and/or quality assurance systems.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid Passport for international travel.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

Willing and able to occasionally work overtime outside core business hours (evenings or weekend), generally planned in advance at mutually acceptable times.
Willing and able to occasionally perform inspection and oversight activities in various aviation environments that may be hazardous.
Willing and able to travel within the region (quarterly), nationally (usually annually) or internationally (rarely).
Possession of a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.

ASSESSMENT - GENERAL INFORMATION

In assessing candidates, assessment boards may use a variety of tools and methods including, but not limited to, reviews of past performance and accomplishments, written tests, interviews, PSC tests and reference checks. Assessments may be conducted through a third-party's online platform. In addition, all information obtained throughout the selection process, from the time of application to close of process, may be used to evaluate the candidates.

Assessments may be conducted virtually.

Random selection may be used.

A top-down screening approach may be undertaken. Only the top ranking candidates may be invited to the assessment phase of the process.

Candidates are only required to meet the essential qualifications to be placed into the pool. We may appoint candidates by applying one or more of the following criteria:
- Breadth, depth, type of specific work experience,
- Matching individual experience or qualifications to the strengths and/or weaknesses of the work team,
- Matching individual experience or qualifications to the specific duties of the position being staffed.

You must provide proof of your education credentials. You will be advised to provide the documents later in the process. If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian education standards.
