Intent of the process

📌 The intent of this process is to staff four (4) temporary positions in Dartmouth, NS. Positions will initially be staffed on a temporary one-year basis, with the possibility of an extension.

Due to the nature of the position, the incumbent will be required to be present on-site, which means full-time remote work will not be allowed. Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are able to relocate or commute to the advertised location of work.

A pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); may be established through this process to staff identical or similar EC‐03/SP-ESS-03 positions on a temporary or permanent full‐time basis.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution** with acceptable specialization*** in economics, sociology or statistics.

*Degree: A minimum of a baccalaureate, as established by educational authorities.

** Recognized Post-Secondary Institution: Public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty,
also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.

*** Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

Experience* conducting research, analyzing, and writing reports.

Experience* in applying analytical techniques or qualitative/quantitative methodology within a research project.

Experience* in producing and presenting material (in at least one of the following: reports, presentations or project findings) to decision-makers.

*Experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a minimum of (1) year.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - In accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, Directive on Security Screening (effective January 6,2025), Canadian citizenship is required to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.

Possession of a valid driver's license or mobility normally associated with possession of a valid driver’s license.
Must be willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
Must be willing and able to work extended overtime hours sometimes on short notice.
Must be willing and able to travel domestically/internationally to attend training/work away from home, as necessary.
Must be willing and able to testify in court.
Must be willing and able to participate in the Intelligence Analyst Understudy Training Program.
