The position is located in Gatineau, Quebec. Qualified individual hired through this process who self-declare as Indigenous and whose location is critical to their identity may be granted an exception and work from their community where they currently reside.

The CRTC is looking for a talented and motivated individual at the manager (CO-03 or equivalent) level to lead its Indigenous Relations Team. This team is the single-point of contact for external Indigenous parties to connect with the CRTC. The team strives to increase the participation of Indigenous Peoples in the CRTC’s processes and works internally with policy teams to ensure that the perspectives of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples is reflected at every step of the policy-development process.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff the Manager, Indigenous Relations position for a one-year term contract.

In order to meet the organizational needs, this posiiton will be staffed by a person who self-identify as belonging to the following employment equity group: Indigenous people.

ORGANIZATIONNAL NEEDS:

Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
This position requires proficiency in both official languages, English and French, at the above-mentioned level. However, in accordance with section 16 (1) and (2) of the Public Service Employment Regulations, an employee may be exempted from meeting the official language requirements of the position for an acting appointment if the position is encumbered by an individual who is attending language training. Exemptions may also apply for an assignment, secondment or a non-imperative appointment.

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.

At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed, may serve as an alternative to meet the minimum education standard.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES:

-Significant (Note 1) experience in building relationships within the organization and with external organizations.
-Significant (Note 1) experience in communicating or engaging with Indigenous parties.

Note 1: Significant experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of activities over the course of approximately two (2) years.
