• Participates in designing and implementing research experiments, and recording research activities.
• Conducts field, laboratory, and greenhouse experiments related to soil and nutrient management and assisting in the interpretation of research data.
• Collects and prepares soil, plant, water or air samples, in support of research projects.
• Adapts protocols for laboratory measurements to address new research questions.
• Liaises with other AAFC, provincial and private labs when research analyses are out-sourced, to ensure accuracy and consistency of results.
• Manages analyses, including operation of various instruments for analyses of samples, maintenance of sample data archives, and quality assurance/control.
The Agassiz Research and Development Centre (Agassiz RDC) is the lead centre in Canada for integrated research on peri-urban agriculture. Research focuses on developing intensive yet sustainable horticultural and forage management systems that are integrated within a peri-urban environment. The centre focuses its research activities in the following four broad strategic areas: soil health management, innovative crop production systems, integrated pest management and biodiversity enhancement.
The immediate need is to staff one indeterminate position at the Agassiz Research and Development Centre.
A pool of qualified and/or partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures as well as various linguistic requirements.
