Work environment

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) English essential GT-07 position in the Ottawa, Ontario, on an indeterminate (permanent) basis.

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates resulting from this process may be established and used to fill similar positions with various tenures, linguistic profiles, and/or security requirements at the Department of National Defence.

EDUCATION

The minimum standard is:
• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

📢 Note:
1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
💻 A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
💻 An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
-Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
-Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the GT classification.

The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.

Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the GT classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

EXPERIENCE

✨ Experience in determining infrastructure requirements supporting the Canadian Armed Forces ammunition program including but not limited to: new construction, technology requirements and licensing considerations.

✨Experience producing technical written material to brief senior management*.
*Senior management is defined as Director and above.

✨ Experience in analysing data to give recommendations or advice to senior management*.
*Senior management is defined as Director and above.

✨ Experience providing or reviewing technical specifications.

✨Experience in human resources supervision.

✨Experience performing Ammunition Technical Authority duties.

⭐ Experience analyzing metrics relating to performance or operational effectiveness.

KNOWLEDGE

♦ Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines as they pertain to the operations of the Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot.

♦ Knowledge of policy relating to inventory control, technical services, stock taking and regulatory compliances of Canadian Armed Forces ammunition and explosives.

♦ Knowledge of Ammunition warehousing, maintenance, and repair procedures
