Duties

This position works in a client focused, fast paced environment and plays a critical role in solving complicated challenges through troubleshooting and collaborating with a broader team.

Our IT professionals are involved in creating and maintaining solutions, systems, platforms and tools, and skillfully integrating existing off the shelf products, to achieve the overall objective of protecting and presenting Canada's natural and cultural heritage.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill a full time, 6-month term position from approximately May to October.

This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary education program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position, OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Recent experience* installing, configuring, and/or repairing personal computer systems in a network environment
EX2: Recent experience* installing and/or troubleshooting Windows 11 Operating Systems
EX3: Recent experience* in the delivery of IT support services to clients in a corporate network environment
EX4: Recent experience* installing and/or troubleshooting Microsoft Office suite and virtual private networks (VPN)

*Recent experience is defined as having approximately six (6) months of experience gained within the last two (2) years

KNOWLEDGE
K1: Knowledge of IT service desk support principles. (ex. escalation procedures, basic user accounts management, and/or IT Service Management procedures)
K2: Knowledge of Windows 11, including Microsoft Office 365 applications
K3: Basic knowledge of networking and telecommunications equipment and principals

ABILITIES
A1: Ability to manage priorities and deadlines
A2: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
A3: Ability to use available resources to develop adequate solutions for client problems

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform when required
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required
• Willingness to work and travel within the geographical area of the Mountain Parks when required
• Willingness to lift computers, monitors (weight between 10 and 20 kg)
