EDUCATION
EG-03:
A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma.

EG-04:
An undergraduate degree from a recognized university with specialization in environmental or natural sciences (e.g. biology, ecology, geology, agriculture) or other discipline relevant to the position OR acceptable combination of two years of a related post-secondary program, training and experience in a field related to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EG-03 & EG-04:
Experience applying scientific methods or traditional ecological knowledge to collect environmental data.
Experience in travelling and working in remote locations using various means of transportation.

EG-03:
Experience conducting field work for active management, research or monitoring projects

EG-04:
Experience leading or supervising a field team
Experience coordinating or leading two (2) or more phases of field research, active management, or ecological monitoring projects
Experience analyzing data, interpreting results, and maintaining databases

Experience in wildland fire operations
Experience contributing to the preparation of technical/scientific reports, or presentations.

Information on employment equity

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment (PPE)
Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation
Willingness to wear PPE (e.g., Tyvek protective suit, respirators, goggles, etc.)
Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required
Willingness to obtain certification in the operation of various forms of ground transportation (e.g. all-terrain vehicles) as required
May be required to undergo and pass pre-placement and periodic medical checks
Willingness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification
Willingness to get Saskatchewan pesticide applicator course and license
Willingness to complete the Wildland Fire Course S-131, ICS100 and ICS 200 (EG-04 ONLY)
