Duties

The driver duties, for the G7 Summit Event, will include, but are not limited to:
• Working as a team and/or individually
• Working in all weather conditions
• Operating a variety of vehicles to provide passenger and material (freight) transportation at various locations.
Vehicle types may include: 24 passenger bus, small vans and regular vehicles;
• Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of freight that can weight up to 23kg (50 pounds) max

Intent of the process

The Government of Canada will be hosting the 2025 G7 Leaders' Summit which will be held in June 2025 in Kananaskis, Alberta.

Resource requirements are expected to be substantial in order to ensure the proper functioning of the event, and the safety & security of attending delegations, Internationally Protected Persons (IPPs) and the community.

To meet the immense challenge before us, the RCMP Major Event Coordination Centre is presently seeking casual employees (90 working days contract) to fill Driver positions for this event (shuttle and/or cube van, coach).

Casual employment is a temporary form of employment for a maximum of 90 working days per department in a calendar year. Shifts can include evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as well as ‘’as and when required’’ during the week. A casual worker may not apply to internal job opportunities.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Possession and maintenance of a valid and current Canadian Driver’s Licence equivalent to an Alberta Class 5 Full Drivers Licence.

Experience driving one or more of the following vehicles: small van, cube, shuttle, bus, taxi/Uber

Possession of a valid and current Alberta Class 4 Drivers Licence

Conditions of employment

RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status

Willing, able and available to work shift work, weekends, overtime, and stand by as required and sometimes on short notice

Willing and able to travel upon request, for short to longer periods of time

Willing and able to lift, carry, push and pull freight that can weight up to 23kg (50 pounds)

Possession and maintenance of a valid Canadian Driver’s Licence equivalent to an Alberta Class 5 Full Drivers Licence

** Upon appointment, provision of a Driver’s Abstract, which is to show a minimum three (3) year driving record that is free of any demerit points or other traffic violations.
