Reporting to the Deputy Director, Maintenance and Service Line Project Delivery Division (AWSM), we are seeking an individual to support the Division in the following capacity in a role that encompasses the following responsibilities:
- Developing scopes of work for maintenance and repair construction projects and working across the department with various important stakeholders;
- Contributing to the team’s project planning activities;
- Engaging with project stakeholders and seeking input to facilitate studies and analysis of project requirements;

The International Platform Branch (IPB) is responsible for managing and maintaining a mission network of people, infrastructure, assets, and services to enable the Government of Canada and Global Affairs Canada to achieve its international priorities. The branch operates in a complex and fluid environment while providing a suite of common services to 182 missions in 112 countries around the world.
The real property portfolio abroad includes chanceries, head of mission residences and staff quarters which are provided as an enabler of Government of Canada program delivery, accommodating more than 7,900 employees (including locally engaged staff), in more than 2,400 properties, with a replacement value more than $3 billion. The provision of physical resources and accommodation common services are delivered by three Bureaus, the Planning and Policy Bureau (ARD), the Project Delivery and Professional Services Bureau (AWD) and the Major Capital Investments (ACME).
In April 2023, changes to the senior ranks of Global Affairs Canada were announced with the creation of the Senior Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) for the People and International Platform (DMPP), which included the creation Associate ADM position for Real Property and Infrastructure Solutions (ACM). This new structure was designed to integrate Planning and Stewardship (ARD) and Project Delivery and Professional Services (AWD) along with Major Capital Investments (ACME), three critical areas that are essential to our department’s success. The intent of this integration was to be able to look at improving our ways of working within our larger organization and continue to deliver excellent value to our network, while continuing to achieve the People and International Platform Branch (DMPP) strategic objectives of improving service delivery, increasing engagement, and caring for our people.
The successful applicant will work in a team of regional maintenance officers in the Maintenance and Service Line Project Delivery Division (AWSM) and will be required to travel abroad to various countries. The work environment will vary depending on the location and country where the work is carried out. The position involves inspections in a noisy environment such as mechanical rooms, height such as roofs, and various locations such as, but not limited to, basements, confined spaces, storage rooms, offices, etc.
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) EG-06 position for approximately a period of two (2) years with a bilingual imperative BBB/BBB requirement.
A pool of candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various tenures (determinate, indeterminate or acting) and/or linguistic requirements within Global Affairs Canada.
