Please note this position does not offer a hybrid option. There will be a requirement for presence in the office five (5) days per week.

Duties

Acquires, verifies and interprets Geographic Information System data received from various sources in order to prepare and enhance GIS products. Develops and enhances information collection, storage, retrieval, and delivery mechanism. Adapts processes to meet client requirements and documents these changes. Maintains GIS-related information and prepares reports on completed work. Provide training and assistance to internal clients on the use of GIS tools and how to use various types of data within ArcGIS.

Intent of the process

This process will initially be used to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, and create a pool of qualified candidates. This pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of a diploma in Geographic Information System (GIS) or the successful completion of a military training program in GIS.

Degree equivalency

Recent experience in the use of GIS and ArcGIS Server.
Experience providing support on the use of GIS to clients.
Experience interpreting and synthesizing data and results.
Significant experience with MS Excel.

*Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be associated with at least two (2) years experience.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in geography, geographic information systems or computer applications.

Degree equivalency

ESRI Associate or Professional Certificate in ArcGIS for Desktop or ArcGIS Server.

Experience with Geospatial data collection, database management and analysis using GIS software.

Experience using various geo-spatial software programs such as ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, Catalyst.

Experience compiling and presenting geo-spatial data in digital, graphic, chart or map, or other representational form.

Experience custom programming with geo-spatial software using scripting languages such as Python, DAX, Arcade, or SQL
