Work environment

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has a mandate to provide integrated border services that support national security and public safety priorities, while facilitating the free flow of legitimate trade and travel. Essentially, the CBSA ensures that people and goods can move across Canada's borders safely and efficiently, while also protecting the country from threats such as illegal drugs, firearms, and other prohibited items.

Intent of the process

The purpose of this inventory is to serve as a repository for collecting CVs for various opportunities of various groups and levels, tenures, security requirements, work locations and/or linguistic requirements within the Canada Border Services Agency. This mechanism will be used for at-level opportunities for those currently occupying substantive positions within the public service, as well as for opportunities such as casual employment or other types of temporary employment.

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment. Based on the hiring needs, additional essential qualifications, asset qualifications, organizational needs, operational requirements and/or conditions of employment may be identified and applied during the assessment and/or selection of candidates. Volume management strategies such as asset qualifications, top down or random selection approach may be used as part of the selection process.
