📈 As the Conservation Data Management Technician, you will help our conservation teams query and access data as well as develop tabular and visual analyses. You will also provide guidance materials and training.

The Conservation Information Management Team at Parks Canada provides information system support to teams that establish and conserve our national parks, national marine conservation areas, and national urban parks across the country. Those teams monitor and report on ecological integrity, help conserve species at risk, promote healthy coexistence between humans and wildlife, manage wildland fire, manage projects that restore ecosystems, and contribute to the science that informs Parks Canada decisions.

Intent of the process

This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country.

🎓 EDUCATION

ED1: Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized university or college in a field relevant to the duties of the position, such as business intelligence, computer sciences, geomatics, information management OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

💼 EXPERIENCE

EX1: Experience* in developing queries or scripts using query language, query tools, report generation software, or scripting languages (e.g. SQL, Python, Microsoft Power BI, etc.);
EX2: Experience* in advanced data analysis formulas, functions and data visualization (e.g. pivot tables, Microsoft Excel formulas and charts, dashboards);
EX3: Experience* in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with clients and stakeholders or providing user support and training.

* “Experience” is defined as a minimum of two (2) years of experience.

AEX4: Experience working with conservation related data.
