Duties

Provides lifeguard services and related reception, information, cashier and janitorial services to guests in pools, to contribute to visitor use and enjoyment in a safe, secure environment.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION*

• High school diploma
• Valid certificate of the lifesaving society, certificate of national lifeguards (swimming pool)
• Valid national lifeguard certificate courses in first aid with level C CPR or more*

* A copy of the certificates and accreditations must accompany the application.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

• At least 1-year experience as a lifeguard.

ASSET:

• Experience in supervising staff.
• Experience dealing with the public and to operate points of sale (cash register)

KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge of the operation of a pool (compliance with standards and regulations
maintenance of a balanced and clean water to protect customers).

ABILITIES:

• Client oriented – Provide excellent services internally and externally;
• Interactive Communication – Listening to others and communicating articulately, fostering open communication;
• Target dangerous or potentially dangerous situations - Identify and take appropriate measures to safeguard its security and that of others; take emergency and first aid measures.

ASSET:

• Ability to supervise and coach staff - Ensure ongoing training through individual coaching or team training and resolve contentious situations.

PERSONAL SUITABILITY:

• Exercises sound judgment;
• Assume its responsibilities.
• Building relationships.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Make moderate physical effort to sit and stand for prolonged periods;
• Be exposed to variable weather conditions;
• Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others;
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required.
• Consent to perform various tasks (reception, maintenance of the pool and field).
• Consent to perform tasks with reasonable physical requirements, for example: lift, push and pull heavy objects and work with chemical cleaning products

Conditions of employment

• Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance;
• Possession of a valid Driver's license;
• Must consent to wear official clothing and lifeguard protective equipment;
• Possession and maintenance of professional accreditations.
