What does a Detachment Services Assistant do? Excellent question, here’s what you should know.
Our Detachment Services Assistants are instrumental in providing daily administrative support to our Police Officer’s and the general public we serve. Our Detachment Services Assistants work in-person, at various police detachments throughout Halifax Regional Municipality and are responsible for responding to public inquiries both in-person and on the telephone. Given our Detachment Services Assistants work in a busy police environment, they may be exposed to unsettling and/or graphic material.
In order to perform their duties, Detachment Services Assistants are trained to use various police software systems and databases to create police occurrences (files) and look-up pertinent information. Our Detachment Services Assistants play an important role in ensuring the Detachment (office) runs smoothing, whether that is ordering/maintaining supply inventory, reconciling monthly finances, photocopying documents, maintaining police files (paper & electronic), data entry and more!
Detachment Services Assistants work Monday through Friday, during regular business hours.

📢 NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc.
