Are you passionate about ensuring food safety and regulatory compliance? Join our team as a Technical Advisor For industry services to the Program Manager, National Inspection Procedures, and Regulatory Compliance. You will provide critical insights on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs and collaborate on major projects with top scientific experts from various federal and provincial departments, as well as international organizations. This is your chance to make a significant impact in the field of food safety and work with a dynamic team of professionals. You will have the flexibility to work from any CGC office.
This process will be used to staff one (1) full time indeterminate position.
This selection process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to staff similar positions, at the same group and level and various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, deployment, acting, casual employment, part-time worker, assignment and secondment).
Note: The successful candidate must be available and willing to work a minimum of 3 days per week at a CGC office located within 150 km of residence.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in biology, biochemistry, agriculture or some other natural, physical or applied science with specialization related to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE
• Recent* experience with auditing quality management systems
• Recent* experience with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) or other food safety programs such as Safe Quality Food, British Retail Consortium or Food Safety System Certification 22200.
• Recent* experience in reviewing and updating related standards and/or policies in food safety.
• Recent* experience in coordinating and rationalizing input from diverse stakeholders such as federal and provincial agencies, producers and grain industry to ensure food safety programs in place are current and meets the needs of clients.
• Recent* experience in delivering food safety training programs internally and externally to clients.
• Recent* experience in delivering oral presentations internally and externally to clients on food safety (in person or Webinars).

EDUCATION
Completion of an Agricultural and Food Science Program.
EXPERIENCE
• Recent* completion of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point training
• Recent* experience in providing scientific advice, interpretations and recommendation on program policy issues, suggesting potential areas of research to strengthen safety standards.
• Recent* experience in consulting and collaborating with food safety experts in the scientific community and regularly review scientific literature.

OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Most of the work is performed in an open office environment requiring sitting for long hours while using a computer to read and produce documents and reports and analyzing information.
• Valid driver’s license OR personal mobility in the time and manner normally associated with possession and use of a driver’s license.
• Visiting grain elevators on occasion
• Ability and willingness to be exposed to grain dust / soil, and to outdoor conditions in an industrial environment. Known allergies must be controlled through the use of personal protective equipment and/or medication, and must not impinge upon the duties to be perform

• Wearing protective safety equipment where there is exposure to grain dust and requirement to wear safety equipment.
