Working under supervision of Interpretation Officer/Coordinators, the Heritage Presenter delivers interpretive presentations, programs, activities and special events that engage Canadians and other visitors in the learning, enjoyment, connection to, and appreciation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Klondike National Historic Site. Candidates should also demonstrate flexibility in response to the organization’s changing needs and will be able to learn quickly and pick up new methods and techniques both within and outside their current area of expertise.
This position is responsible for:
•Presenting meaningful, captivating and enjoyable interpretation programs and activities that enhance the overall visitor experience of the national historic sites, routinely in period costumes and/or a Parks Canada uniform.
•Perform cashier duties, sell permits; assist in the operation of sales outlets.
•Greet and orient visitors; deliver reception, orientation, public safety and visitor experience information.
•Adapt information when delivering presentations to address the needs of specific visitor groups and individuals, to reflect a target market and personal approach.
•Participate in the coordination and delivery of familiarization tours for clients and tourism industry stakeholders.
•Participate in the coordination and delivery of after-hours special events and private functions.
•Contribute to the overall national historic site visitor experience through the course of work; respond to general inquiries, direct visitors to sources of information and service areas, and direct visitor complaints; remain attentive to national historic site conditions and environments to detect and report incidents and undesirable situations; advise visitors and assist with possible solutions.
