Duties

The work involves answering, screening and redirecting, or taking messages from incoming telephone calls at the main IOGC switchboard. Receiving incoming mail and courier packages, logging and ensuring deliveries are forwarded to central registry immediately. Preparing packages for outgoing courier, and dispatching courier for pick-up. Providing word processing assistance, including updating or producing a variety of documents using word, excel and power point, recommending options for format and display, and proofreading own and others documents.
Strong communication skills and professionalism are essential to this position as it is the first line of contact for the organization and directly influences the image of the organization.

Work environment

IOGC manages and regulates oil and gas resources on designated First Nation lands across Canada. We are a non-unionized special operating agency within Indigenous Services Canada. Our dual mandate is to fulfill the Crown's fiduciary and statutory obligations related to the management of oil and gas resources on First Nation lands and to further First Nation initiatives to manage and control their oil and resources such as governance.

Experience:
Experience in reception duties such as:
Answering, screening and redirecting, or taking messages from incoming telephone calls.
Preparing packages for outgoing courier, and dispatching courier for pick-up.
Providing administrative support using word processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint .
