We are seeking a motivated and experienced candidate who is interested in working in a unique field within federal correctional facilities.

The National Maintenance Specialist Position for CSC is a newly created position such that the successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to shape the future direction of CSC facilities-maintenance!

The successful candidate will work with an engineering and maintenance team to
• develop standards, methods and maintenance management protocols
• guide the ongoing implementation of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• review maintenance history and and develop national strategies for life-cycle management.

⚠️ Although the majority of the work will be in office, the candidate may be expected to travel to federal correctional facilities across the country from time to time

Work environment

The position is located in Ottawa. That said, if there are few qualified candidates willing to work from the Ottawa office, we may consider offering the position virtually from a regional office in another region. Please note that a hybrid work model (work in the office and teleworking) is in place according to current directives.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

• Successful completion of a post-secondary engineering program
OR
• Certificate of qualification in a trade associated with facilities maintenance
OR
• Acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

• About three (3) years of experience over the last five (5) years providing facilities maintenance services in a large facility*

• About one (1) year of experience in planning or coordinating facilities maintenance or construction projects

• Experience providing advice and guidance to management on facilities maintenance or construction matters

• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System including, but not limited to, such activities as planning, scheduling, asset inventory, updating, fulfilling work orders, etc

• Experience making technical decisions related to repairs and maintenance or facilities management projects


*Large facility is defined as a building and grounds which are similar in size to a correctional institution, hospital, airport, shopping mall, college campus or large company.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in mechanical, electrical or civil engineering
• Provincial certification relevant to the duties of the position

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in leading teams either through direct supervisor or technical authority
• Experience developing and implementing preventative maintenance program
• Experience using MAXIMO Computerised Maintenance Management System within the last 5 years
• Experience writing technical scopes of work and developing requests for project proposals
• Experience providing training
• Experience in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
• Experience working with Building Condition Report
