Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) temporary position (2.5 years) at the PC-03 group and level. The Scientific Officer position is located in Sudbury, Ontario and an onsite presence is required.

A pool of qualified and/or partially qualified candidates may be established and used to fill similar positions on a temporary or permanent basis.

Education
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or any other specialty related to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience
• Approximately two years of professional experience developing partnerships with stakeholders
• Experience collecting, organizing and analysing data

Knowledge
• Knowledge of the permitting process and applicable regulatory requirements in the Canadian mining industry

Abilities/Competencies
• Ability to communicate effectively orally
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing
• Ability to plan, organize, and deliver research studies

Personal Suitability
• Attention to detail
• Teamwork

Experience
• Experience developing process maps

Knowledge
• Knowledge of user design testing for developing software or web applications
• Knowledge of mining life cycle and environmental impacts
