Duties

Your responsibilities would be caring for, feeding and working with high drive dogs. This is a team environment that requires good communication skills, being physically fit, and adaptability to a varied work environment.

Intent of the process

A qualified pool of candidates will be established and used to staff this position and similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.*
*Candidates invited to an interview will be required to bring proof of their education credentials, in the form of a diploma or transcript.
Candidates with foreign credentials must provide proof of Canadian equivalency. See Degree equivalency link below.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Experience using email and word processing software.
- Experience caring for, feeding, and handling working animals.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of a certificate or diploma program from a recognised post-secondary institution, with a specialization in animal science, health or care.

Degree equivalency

- Experience working in a Kennel environment.
- Experience using spreadsheet software.

KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of the procedures required to care for, and feed working dogs.
- Knowledge of practices required to safely operate, maintain and conduct minor repairs on equipment.
- Knowledge of basic grounds maintenance.

- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing
- Ability to lift and move objects, materials and equipment safely.

- RCMP Reliability Status security clearance.
