OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

Registration as a Registered Nurse OR a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in a province or territory of Canada. (In order to be appointed, candidates must be registered in the province or territory where the position is being staffed).

EXPERIENCE

Recent* experience in planning, implementing and evaluation of health interventions and/or programs in interdisciplinary practice settings.

(*Recent being defined as a period of 5 cumulative years)

KNOWLEDGE

• Knowledge of legislation and policies that influence the delivery of health service within a Correctional milieu such as acts, the mandate, priorities, Commissioner’s Directives, guidelines and/or accreditation standards.

• Knowledge of current and emerging health/education technologies, trends and best practices.

• Knowledge of professional standards, ethical standards, resources, human rights and health.

EDUCATION

Recognized bachelors, masters or doctoral degree in nursing, nursing administration, nursing education or other specialty relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

• Experience in managing financial or human resources.

• Experience as a discipline-specific professional practice lead or related resource in the health care field.

• Experience providing discipline-specific services in a correctional environment.

• Experience providing discipline-specific services to culturally diverse populations.

• Experience providing discipline-specific services to vulnerable populations (e.g persons with cognitive impairments, etc.).

• Experience in providing discipline-specific services in a mental health environment.

• Experience in conducting research.

• Experience establishing, developing and managing productive and cooperative partnership with community-based services (e.g community capacity building).
