Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) Senior Curator position for the Army Museum of Alberta on an indeterminate (permanent) basis at the Military Museums in Calgary, AB.

A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process, and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in arts or history

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in the documentation, management, audit, and acquisition of collections.
• Experience in using collections management information systems.
• Experience in using Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience in planning and organizing exhibits, selecting artifacts, and creating exhibit labels for collections and exhibitions.
• Experience in drafting policy documents, research papers and grant applications.
• Experience in creating and delivering presentations such as lectures and exhibit openings.
• Experience in the management of artifacts using conservation and preservation best practices.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Museology.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience using graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Canva.
• Experience managing budgets and making recommendations on the financial requirements related to a gallery or collections.

KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of Canadian Military History.
