Visitor Services Attendant duties:
- Various duties associated with positions in campgrounds, visitor centers, entry gates, or traffic teams
- Cleaning washrooms, showers and pit privies, litter picking, emptying of garbage and recycling bins, sweeping and mopping
- Interacting with visitors to support a quality experience, providing information, direction and sales of goods and services
- Addressing and resolving visitor concerns and complaints
- Conducting facility rounds to ensure visitor compliance with park regulations

Intent of the process

The results of this process will be used to fill potential term/acting/assignment at level vacancies for the 2025 season. This process may also be used to fill future vacancies that may arise at the GS-MPS-04 group & level, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, such as: Seasonal Indeterminate, Term, Acting Assignment or Assignment at level, depending on status of the selected candidate.

Successful completion of secondary school according to provincial standards.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
• Experience in point-of-sale equipment operation, cash handling, and balancing daily sales.
• Experience providing information and service to the public, including complaint resolution.
• Working in a team environment.
• Cleaning of commercial and/or public facilities.

KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of Waterton Lakes National Park;
• Knowledge of cash handling practices;
• Knowledge of safe work practices

ABILITIES
• Client & Team Focus - Providing service excellence to internal and/or external client.
• Concern for Safety: Identifying hazards and potential hazards and taking action to ensure a safe environment.
• Sound Decision Making: making decisions involving different levels of risk.
• Problem Solving - Identifying problems and the solutions to them.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and personal protective equipment.
• Willingness to work in variable weather conditions.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays.
• Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
• Medium physical effort to lift 50 lbs maximum with frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.

The position requires the incumbent to:
• Make moderate physical effort to sit and stand for prolonged periods and to clean facilities and grounds.
• Be exposed to variable weather conditions.
• Be exposed to noxious odours from car fumes, dust, cleaning products and wet conditions.
• Be exposed to potential for minor injury when performing cleaning and maintenance activities.
• Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others.
• Complete Occupational Health and Safety training, implement said training as required.
• Learn and demonstrate Parks Canada Values and Ethic Code in all aspects of their work.
