Duties

Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) is Canada's science, technology and innovation leader, contributing to Canada’s defence efforts by developing and delivering cutting edge technology solutions, driving data-based decisions, and providing subject matter expertise on science and technology related issues. DRDC is committed to an inclusive work environment and is well-positioned to recruit Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence specialists to work for 7 different centres providing operational research and strategic analysis to the Department of National Defence, the Canadian Armed Forces, and defence and security partners. These scientists deliver evidence-based analysis and researched information to support planning and decision making, the identification of issues and risks with proposals for mitigation, and the effective use of resources such as personnel, equipment and budgets.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create an accessible and inclusive space where persons with visible and invisible disabilities can demonstrate their talent, skills, knowledge and abilities for consideration at the DS 03 group and level. The resulting pool of Defence Scientists may be contacted by hiring managers for current and future opportunities with various security and language requirements.

EDUCATION
 Graduation with a doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, economics, sociology or some other specialty relevant to the position,

OR

 Graduation with a master’s or bachelor’s degree with specialization in a field relevant to the position, coupled with acceptable experience**.

**Acceptable experience must include:

↪ Demonstrated originality and innovation throughout independent scientific work.
↪ Contribution to scientific activities that have supported client requirements.
↪ Recognition from peers or clients for valuable expertise in at least one speciality.

Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
