Transport Canada will provide relocation assistance in accordance with the provisions of the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat Addendum - Initial Appointees Relocation Program.

✈️ Vacation Travel Assistance (VTA)

Employees working at headquarters that have airports will be paid an amount equivalent to the return full fare economy class airfare between the headquarters and the point of departure. The payment will include the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and provincial or territorial sales tax, as applicable. The payment excludes airport fees, departure taxes, NAVCAN surcharges, travel agent fees, and other miscellaneous fees.

There is no requirement to travel, or take leave, or lieu time off to receive the VTA payment. VTA is payable to the employee, for the employee and each applicable dependant.

Duties

πŸ“ Transport Canada is looking for a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician at its airport in Churchill, Manitoba. The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs, and overhaul various equipment, vehicles, and diesel-powered generating plants. Primary responsibilities include:
➒ Maintaining and overhauling fixed and mobile gasoline and diesel-powered equipment.
➒ Carrying out heavy, light, and small engine repairs.
➒ Operating heavy and light equipment to assess their operating condition.
➒ Carrying out welding and machinist duties during maintenance and repair activities.
➒ Preparing a service schedule to ensure proper equipment maintenance, and source materials and supplies.
➒ Assist with airport operations, and bird and wildlife control.
