Duties

Providing technical support and expertise in the installation, operation, support, maintenance, configuration, programming, security, testing and troubleshooting of division wireless mobile voice and data communications equipment and infrastructure. Providing technical assistance and expertise to specialized sections in the RCMP, other police departments and government agencies. Analysing and assessing the impact of new and/or upgraded hardware and software on mobile data equipment. Identifying IT procurement requirements and recommending courses of action to the supervisor and management. Developing and writing reports and other documents such as user guides; and training users and new employees on the utilization and operation of the mobile data communications equipment and associated infrastructure.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill six term and/or indeterminate CS-02/CP-02 vacancies in Newmarket, Ontario. A pool may be established from this selection process and may be used to fill the same or similar positions at the CS-02/CP-02 group and level in Newmarket, Ontario or in London, Ontario.

Should a Civilian Member be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Experience in computer system architecture, software and operational process in data processing.

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management, electronics or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

Knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) networks.
