Duties

By joining the team, you will evolve in a stimulating environment where servicing citizens is at the heart of our mission. As a PAYMENT SERVICES OFFICER you will be responsible for:

• Rendering fair decisions about entitlement to benefits based on the eligibility criteria specified in the Employment Insurance Act and Regulations.
• Conducting extensive research and fact-finding to gather missing information, corroborate facts, and clarify discrepancies to process benefits applications.
• Processing Employment Insurance (EI) applications in a timely manner, while considering specificities, procedures and guidelines.
• Providing general information about the program; explain the laws, decisions, procedures and processes specific to Employment Insurance and other programs and services.

This position will be particularly suitable for people who:

• Want to help people in need.
• Have an excellent sense of client service and ability to defuse, by telephone, sensitive or peculiar situations.
• Have a keen sense of thoroughness and research to gather relevant information and capture data accurately.
• Have a concern to fairly apply the Law and Regulations.
• Learn quickly and are available to attend several weeks of training.

The incumbents of these positions will work at our Employment Insurance processing center located in the city of Thetford Mines, Quebec. They will provide services to the general public with respect to Employment Insurance benefits and programs. Development and training opportunities will enable them to acquire current and comprehensive knowledge of the Department's programs and services.

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates to fill part-time and/or full time (ranging of 30 to 37.50 hours per week), temporary positions as well as short term, seasonal, permanent or acting appointment at the Employment Insurance Processing Centre located in Thetford-Mines, Quebec.

EDUCATION

A Secondary School Diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian education standards. The public service will accept any Foreign Educational Credentials as long as they are deemed comparable to Canadian standards, through a recognized credential assessment service.

PSEE - Test of Reasoning UIT

Applicants must complete the Public Service Entrance Exam: Test of Reasoning Unsupervised Internet Test (UIT) as part of the screening for this selection process. This test assesses reasoning and problem solving ability. You will have 90 minutes to complete the test. You must complete the test before you submit your application for this position.
