This inventory is for casual employment. Casual employment is temporary employment of 90 working days or less in a calendar year, to meet needs for temporary vacancies arising from vacation, sick leave, training, special projects, etc.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. Failing to do so could result in your application being rejected.
Experience in operating all types of lawn maintenance equipment such as weed whips, push lawn mowers, hand rototillers.
Experience in using all types of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, hand saws, pruners, gas powered hedge trimmers.
Experience in operating riding lawn mowers
Experience in landscaping

Willing and able to work from September to April inclusive
Willing and able to work from May to August inclusive
Willing and able to spend prolonged periods of time, including up to hours at a time, on hands and knees pulling weeds
Willing and able to lift and carry objects (maximum of 25 kilograms/55 pounds)
Willing and able to walk for prolonged periods of time (i.e. – up to eight hours pushing a lawn mower or weed whipping)
Willing and able to work weekends
Willing and able to work in varying weather conditions, including work performed outside (extreme heat, cold, rain)
Willing and able to purchase and wear steel toe work boots and cold weather clothing (heavy jackets, toques, etc.).
Security Clearance: Various Royal Canadian Mounted Police security clearances (i.e. Reliability Status or Facility Access Status)
NOTE: Casual workers are excluded from the provisions of the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). This means that casual workers are not considered employees of the federal public service and are not eligible to apply on internal appointment processes. In addition, the PSEA specifies that the number of days worked as a casual worker cannot exceed 90 days in a calendar year within the same department.
The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Reliability Status. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.
One pair of work gloves will be provided. If these are lost, candidates will be responsible to purchase new gloves.
