Education
• Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
• Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience
o Recent and significant experience working in an IT Infrastructure and/or Operations environment.
or
o Recent and significant experience in providing IT support on site or by phone to clients.
or
o Significant experience in IT technical investigations, analysis, and/or providing support.

EXPERIENCE DEFINITION
o SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE refers to the breadth and depth of experience associated with performing the duties in the IM/IT field for a minimum of six (6) months.
o RECENT is defined as experience obtained within the last three (3) years.

EDUCATION
• Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program within the last 5 years in computer science, information technology, or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
• Successful completion of bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.


EXPERIENCE
• Experience as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces
• Recent experience using Axios Systems assyst
• Recent experience in documenting technical problems in a call tracking/help desk/service management system
• Recent experience working at an Information Technology Service Desk, Information Technology Helpdesk or Call Centre
• Recent and significant experience providing IT Support Services on site or by phone to clients in an official capacity.

ASSET EXPERIENCE DEFINITION
o SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE refers to the breadth and depth of experience in the IM/IT field that would normally be acquired over a period of six (6) months or more.

o RECENT is defined as experience obtained within the last three (3) years.

o OFFICIAL CAPACITY is defined as experience as a member of an IT team providing site support, service center or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS
• Preference may be given to Veterans Affairs employees affected by workforce adjustment or organizational changes.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• The operational requirement to work non-standard/traditional work hours and/or overtime and/or On-Call will be used for selection for some positions and may become a condition of employment when used

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Reliability Status security clearance
• Some positions could require a Secret security level.
