Correctional Service of Canada is seeking interest from persons looking for an exciting and rewarding career as a Parole Officer.

Parole Officers are essential to fulfilling the Correctional Service of Canada's (CSC) mission of contributing to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure, and humane control. The Parole Officers' responsibilities include guiding the progress of offenders through a progression from most restrictive to least restrictive controls and from institutions to community supervision. They ensure that legal and policy requirements for reintegration are met as well as manage the reintegration of offenders throughout their sentences while trying to maintain public safety. Furthermore, they are responsible for assessing, analyzing and recommending potential transfer and release suitability of offenders as well as observing and interpreting the behaviour of the offenders/parolees.

Intent of the process

A pool of partially assessed candidates may be established through this selection process to staff positions on an indeterminate and determinate basis with various language requirements across Canada.

MOBILITY

As many positions are in rural or remote areas, candidates may be required to relocate.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field that focuses on understanding and assessing human behaviour.

OR

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution and acceptable correctional experience.

EXPERIENCE

* Experience in structured intervention with individuals aimed at changing human behaviour.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in a correctional environment.

Experience in case management-risk assessment within a federal or provincial correctional facility.

Experience in case management-supervision within a federal or provincial community correctional office.

Experience in interviewing offenders within a federal or provincial correctional facility.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Ability to communicate orally and/or in writing in a language other than English/French that is reflective of the offender population diversity of the operational unit.

PREVIOUS ASSESSMENT RESULTS

Please note that if you have previously participated in a Parole Officer selection process with the Correctional Service of Canada, your results may be applied to the current selection process. This will be confirmed during the assessment stage of the selection process. You are required to submit an application to this selection process to be considered for further assessment.

You will be required to provide proof of your educational credentials.

Candidates referred for further assessment will be provided with the online Parole Officer study package which takes approximately 60 hours to complete after which an on-line knowledge exam will be administered.

Responses provided after the indicated deadline may not be accepted.
