Work environment

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or employer- approved alternatives

Degree equivalency

Experience working in food services within a commercial or institutional setting.

Knowledge of food preparation techniques such as: peeling chopping, fruits and vegetables, preparing ingredients for recipes, etc.

Knowledge of food receiving and storing procedures such as First in First out (FIFO).

Knowledge of safety practices and procedures within food services.

Knowledge of proper food handling and storage practices.

Knowledge of personal hygiene and kitchen sanitation practices in food services.

Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations accurately

Ability to communicate orally.


Ability to provide on the job training.

Ability to lift and carry up to 20 kg in accordance with general safety practices

Successful completion of a secondary school diploma.

Possession of a valid recognized Safe Food Handling Program certification.

Degree equivalency

Experience working with cash register or Point of sale system.

Experience working in a correctional environment (institutional or community office).
