This is an inventory of potential candidates to fill upcoming employment opportunities for architects positions at different levels (AR-04, AR-05, AR-06, AR-07) and for the following disciplines:
1-Architect
2-Landscape Architect

These employment opportunities will be based on anticipated needs within the department of Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC).

Depending on the position being staffed essential qualifications indicated below will be assessed each time using custom tools in accordance with the level of the position being staffed. An interview, written exam, reference checks or combination thereof may be used to assess essential and asset qualifications.

The inventory will be updated every 180 days (6 months). You will receive a notice in your applicant account 14 days before the end of your active period to determine whether or not you wish to keep being considered for an additional 180 days (6 months).

Intent of the process

This inventory may be used to establish pools of partially or fully qualified candidates which may be used by PSPC to staff positions within the AR group for the following levels: 04, 05, 06 and 07.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION

1-Architect:

Graduation with a degree in architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution.
AND
Licensed to practice Architecture by a recognized Provincial Association in Canada

2-Landscape Architect:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in landscape architecture or in urban planning, or some other specialty relevant to landscape architect and/or urban design or urban (town) planning positions.
AND
Licensed to practice Landscape Architecture and/or urban (town) planning by a recognized Provincial Professional Association* in Canada

*Professional Association means that the use of the title is legislated and reserved to members in good standing of the Association

EXPERIENCE

AR-04:

E1. At least 5 years of experience in providing professional services in the discipline (including concept development, tender document preparation, construction supervision, scheduling and budget estimation) for projects related to at least one of the following disciplines:
1-Architect
2-Landscape Architect

AR-05:

E1. At least 7 years' experience in providing professional services in the discipline (including concept development, tender document preparation, construction supervision, scheduling and budget estimation) including a minimum of 2 years in coordinating delivery team(s) for projects related to at least one of the following disciplines:
1-Architect
2-Landscape Architect

AR-06 (specialist):

E1. At least 10 years of experience in providing professional services (including concept development, tender document preparation, construction supervision, scheduling and budget estimation), including at least 2 years of experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams of professionals, for projects related to at least one of the following disciplines:
1-Architect
2-Landscape Architect

E2. At least 3 years of experience (that can be concurrent to the above E1) in providing strategic or expert advice in at least one of the following specialties:
a) Building code conformance
b) Universal Accessibility
c) Building science (Roofing, building envelope, etc.)
d) Heritage conservation.

AR-06 (supervisor):

E1. At least 10 years' experience in providing professional services (including concept development, tender document preparation, construction supervision, scheduling and budget estimation) for projects related to at least one of the following disciplines:
1-Architect
2-Landscape Architect

E2. At least of 3 experience in supervising* employees

*Definition of supervising: responsible for the allocation of responsibilities/duties, performance evaluations, etc.

AR-07:

E1. At least 12 years' experience in providing architectural services (including concept development, tender document preparation, construction supervision, scheduling and budget estimation) including a minimum of 5 years in coordinating multidisciplinary teams

E2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in managing project teams or programs

ASSET EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION for ALL positions:

- Additional education or certification related to project management.

- Additional education or certification related to Heritage Conservation.

- Additional education or certification related to Building Science (specialized training or postgraduate certificate or diploma relating to the materials technologies and techniques related to building enclosure systems: roof and roofing assembly, wall assembly, glazing systems and curtain wall systems, etc.)

- Additional education or certification or knowledge related to ecologically responsible (sustainable) construction planning, detailing, practices and methods; assessment tools; etc.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE for ALL positions:

AE1. Experience in conducting quality assurance review of assessment reports, conceptual options, preliminary designs, technical plans and construction practices in the discipline for which you are applying.

AE2. Experience in providing functional advice: developing and implementing policies, standards, guidelines or best practices, related to real property assets in general or one field of specialization such as heritage conservation, urban design, building conditions, code compliance, accessibility, etc.

AE3. Experience in the supervision of site work or construction of building and/or landscape projects.

AE4. Experience in the design and/or construction supervision of building and/or landscape and/or urban design project(s) in a culturally significant and/or historical context.

AE5. Experience in applying ecologically responsible design and construction tools and methodologies such as Visioning and/or partnering sessions; integrated design practices; post occupancy evaluations; life cycle planning and costing; LEED, GreenGlobe or other similar assessment tools; etc.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

- Placement of PSPC employees affected by work force adjustment.
- Placement of employees subject to current or future reorganization.
- PSPC is committed to establishing and maintaining a representative workforce. This organizational need may be identified as part of the appointment decision. In such cases, qualified candidates who self-declare as members of a visible minority group, Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities or women (in non-traditional occupations) would be considered.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Confidential security clearance or Secret security clearance, depending on the position to be staffed.

- Maintain certification throughout duration of employment will be required for some positions.
- Willingness and ability to travel (i.e. make occasional visits to construction sites).
- Willingness to access and work in industrial settings and/or active construction sites.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime on occasion on short notice including weekends.
