This is an inventory of potential candidates to fill upcoming employment opportunities for engineer positions at different levels (EN-ENG-03, EN-ENG-04, EN-ENG-05 and EN-ENG-06) and for various disciplines:

These employment opportunities will be based on anticipated needs within the department of Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC).

Depending on the position being staffed essential qualifications indicated below will be assessed each time using custom tools in accordance with the level of the position being staffed. An interview, written exam, reference checks or combination thereof may be used to assess essential and asset qualifications.

The inventory will be updated every 180 days (6 months). You will receive a notice in your applicant account 14 days before the end of your active period to determine whether or not you wish to keep being considered for an additional 180 days (6 months).

Intent of the process

This inventory may be used to establish pools of partially or fully qualified candidates which may be used by PSPC to staff positions within the EN-ENG group for the following levels: 03, 04, 05 and 06.

EDUCATION for EN-ENG-03:

Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
*a degree is defined as a baccalaureate or higher level degree, as established by educational authorities
OR
Certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.

EDUCATION for EN-ENG-04, EN-ENG-05 and EN-ENG-06:

Certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCES
IMPORTANT NOTE: The number of years of experience you have within your discipline will determine for which level of EN-ENG you could be considered for, if you meet the experience stated on the statement of merit criteria below.

EXPERIENCE for EN-ENG-03:

E1. *Experience in analysis and design of engineered systems, site surveys, inspections and technical assistance.

E2. *Experience preparing engineering drawings, specifications and reports.

Note: *The EN-ENG-03 positions requires approximately 4 years of experience in the discipline for which you are applying. The experience must include at least 3 years of Canadian experience.

EXPERIENCE for EN-ENG-04:

E1. *Experience in analysis, design of engineered systems, site surveys, inspections and technical assistance.

E2. *Experience in providing full engineering services for preparing drawings, specifications, reports, condition assessments and tender documents (budget and schedule estimation).

E3. *Experience in conducting quality assurance reviews of designs, reports, drawings, and specifications.

Note: *The EN-ENG-04 positions requires approximately 8 years of experience in the discipline for which you are applying. The experience must include at least 5 years of Canadian experience.

EXPERIENCE for EN-ENG-05:

E1. *Experience as discipline lead or in leading multi-discipline teams for design phases and construction phases including budgets, schedules and quality assurance.

E2. Experience providing strategic and functional technical advice (guidelines, best practices, etc.) to management, project managers or clients.

E3. *Experience in all the following areas: design & tender documents, design guidance, design review, condition assessments, resolution of design and technical problems for projects.

Note: *The EN-ENG-05 positions requires approximately 10 years of experience in the discipline for which you are applying. The experience must include at least 5 years of Canadian experience.

EXPERIENCE for EN-ENG-06:

E1. *Experience in providing diverse engineering services or in managing a team involved in providing diverse engineering services (investigations and reports, analysis, conditions assessments).

E2. *Experience providing technical advice to senior project managers, clients and/or senior management.

E3. *Experience in managing a technical support team involved in design guidance and resolution of design and technical problems.

E4. *Experience in coordinating the development and implementation of policies, standards, guidelines or best practices.

*Note: For each experience factors linked to the EN-ENG-06 positions candidates are expected to demonstrate breadth and depth of leadership and the experience must include at least 5 years of Canadian experience.

AE1. Experience in design, technical investigations and advisory services related to industrial mechanical engineering in a Central Heating and Cooling Plant/District Energy systems setting, such as equipment installation, plant and systems infrastructure and tunnel/underground distribution.

AE2. Experience in design and rehabilitation for major projects related to civil engineering such as: bridges, dams, building structures, parking garages and underground infrastructures (piping network, tunnels, etc.).

AE3. Experience in blast analysis and design of blast mitigation measures for buildings.

AE4. Experience in design for major projects related to mechanical engineering in one or more of the following areas: heating, cooling, ventilation, fire protection, plumbing systems, maintenance engineering, indoor air quality, noise control, vibration, life safety systems, building automation or commissioning.

AE5. Experience in design for major projects related to electrical engineering in one or more of the following areas: load analysis, site distribution, primary and secondary distribution, emergency power systems, lighting or fire alarm systems.

AE6. Experience in planning and design of Fire Protection Systems and application of codes and standards related to Fire Protection.

AE7. Experience in providing functional advice: developing and implementing policies, standards, guidelines or best practices related to following areas: Mechanical, Electrical, Building Structural, Bridge, Dam or Marine Structures.

AE4. Experience in design for projects related to building automation such as: control and monitoring of building energy, HVAC, lighting and security systems and integration of building systems.

AE5. Experience in developing standards, guidelines and best practices in the following fields: mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, commissioning or building automation systems.

AE6. Experience in managing human and financial resources (employees, multidisciplinary teams or consultants).

AE7. Experience in applying heritage conservation principles and the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada.

ASSET EXPERIENCE for EN-ENG-06:

AE1. Management experience in the delivery of a program of work in response to competing client demands with varying degrees of complexity and magnitude.
