Possession of a valid Journeyperson Interprovincial Certification (Red Seal)
or
Canadian Forces Qualification Level 5 Military Cook trade certificate

Experience:
E1 - *Recent and **Significant experience as a cook in an institutional, industrial or commercial food service establishment.

*Recent is defined as experience normally acquired within approximately the last 5 years.
** Significant experience is defined as experience acquired relevant to the duties for a period of approximately 2 years in the last 5 years.

For supervisory positions:
E2 - *Recent and **Significant experience as a supervisor in an institutional, commercial or industrial food environment.

** Significant experience is defined as experience acquired relevant to the duties for a period of approximately 2 years in the last 5 years.

Knowledge:
K1 - Knowledge of the Food Safety Code of Practice intended for the Canadian Food Service Industry as per the Canadian Restaurant Food Association,
K2 - Knowledge of culinary terms and techniques.
K3 - Knowledge of preparation and cooking methods for food products.

Abilities and Skills:
A1 - Ability to communicate orally.
A2 - Ability to communicate in writing.
A3 - Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 kg in accordance with general safety practices.
For supervisory ositions:
A4 - Ability to supervise.

Personal Suitability:
PS1 - Interpersonal Relationship
PS2 - Dependability
PS3 - Initiative
PS4 - Judgment

Asset Qualifications:
AQ1 - Experience supervising a food services work team of more than 10 employees.
AQ2 - Experience with the rules and regulations related to Food Services internal policies as published in the Standing Operation Procedures (SOP) specific to the hiring location.

Operational Requirements:
- Willing and able to work Shift Work including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Willing and able to work overtime.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

- Willing and able to wear and/or utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in compliance with safety regulations
- Some positions may require to work shift work including evening, weekend and holidays.

However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
