You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years secondary school or employer-approved alternatives.

Degree equivalency

Experience in the performance of cook's assistant duties as gained in an institutional type setting.

Knowledge of food preparation procedures and techniques.

Knowledge of safety practices related to a food service operation.

Knowledge of hygiene and sanitation principles necessary for food production, storage and service.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to read and follow direction.

Ability to prepare and cook various items such as egg dishes, meats, fish, poultry, soup, sauces, vegetables and desserts.

Ability to calculate weights and measurements in recipes.

Ability to maintain sanitary conditions.

Ability to work safety and follow safety procedures.
