Successful completion of two years secondary school or employer-approved alternatives.

Degree equivalency

Experience as a kitchen helper/waiter/waitress within an institutional kitchen.

Knowledge of dining room services and serving procedures.
Knowledge of food preparation and storage methods.
Knowledge of hygiene practices appropriate to food service workers.
Knowledge of sanitation and safety practices as related to food services.
Knowledge of cleaning agents and practices.

Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to read and follow direction.
Ability to operate and sanitize kitchen equipment such as dishwasher, mechanical peeler and meat slicer.
Ability to serve and present prepared, cooked items.
Ability to work safely and follow safety procedures.

Experience working in a military establishment.
