Valid Transport Canada Certificate of Competency Master 500 GT Domestic or higher.

Radio Operator Certificate-Maritime Commercial (ROC-MC).

Watchkeeping and / or Command experience within the last five (5) years related to the position.

Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) Training Certificate
Marine Advanced First Aid Certificate

Experience operating twin screw, and/or towing vessels employed in BC coastal waters.

Experience in supervision of ship's crews and /or ships officers.

Experience in managing a budget under the Federal Financial Administration Act.

Knowledge of Treasury Board financial policies and procedures.
Knowledge of DND Human Resource policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS).

Ability to operate small vessels in confined harbours.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Functional ability with Microsoft Office applications.
Administrative and managerial skills desired for office succession and promotional considerations.
