Duties

Support Clerk

As part of their work, support clerks are required to:
- Provide support service for the daily operations of an Employment Insurance Processing Center or the Old Age Security Regional Operations Center (OAS-ROC).
- Receive, sort, file, archive and ship mail and initial customer information.
- Enter and scan customer information and relevant documents ensuring they are legible, accurate and complete.
- Request missing information from clients or Department officials or transmit information to the appropriate level.
- Obtain, enter, maintain and extract data and documents regarding requests and complaints.

Passport Clerk

As part of their work, passport clerks are required to:
- Receive and open mail, gather documentation and assemble files for the next step.
- Scan applications, photographs and any other supporting documents submitted by applicants using the computerized passport issuance system.
- Perform data entry related to the customer's personal information by referring to the documentation provided by the applicant.
- Perform data verification to ensure the accuracy of information entered into the database.
- Prepare envelopes for sending original documents and letters to clients.
- Prepare files for sending to other processing centers and manage lists.

Passport printing support clerk

As part of their work, passport printing support clerks are required to:
- Verify data received electronically for accuracy and ensure compliance with quality standards for printing and final verification of printed passport documents.
- Detect and report errors so that corrective action can be taken.
- Assemble and return documents to distribute them, send them by mail and file them.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and could also be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, titles and security requirements within Employment and Social Development Canada.

EDUCATION

A high school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

Employer-approved alternatives to a high school diploma are:

• an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. The acceptable combination is defined as follows: successful completion of at least two years of high school education in addition to experience and (or) training.
