Assessment accommodation

As announced by the Treasury Board of Canada, Indigenous Services Canada employees are expected to perform their duties from a government of Canada physical workplace at least 2–3 days each week, or 40–60% of their regular schedule. Please note that our offices are located at Terrasses de la Chaudière in Gatineau, Quebec.

Intent of the process

The intent is to staff one (1) position on a determinate basis for one year located in Gatineau, QC with the Corporate Secretariat, Governance and Ministerial Trips Unit at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). If you are found qualified and opportunities become available, you could be considered to staff similar or identical positions at Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada with various locations, linguistic profiles, requirement as well as tenures and/or the security clearance, which may vary according to the position being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

NOTES:

The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:

- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:

- Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
- Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the AS classification.

The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.

Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the AS classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

Acceptable experience and/or training in a field relevant to positions in the AS classification is required when the education qualification specified for the position being staffed is a secondary school diploma or approved employer alternatives.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in planning and coordinating meetings or events involving partners or management members.

Experience preparing, reviewing and processing correspondence or administrative documents.

Experience providing information to clients, colleagues or management.

Preference
