Work Environment
We’re looking for innovative and enthusiastic Training Officers and Training Specialists to join our team. Your main responsibilities would be to work with our clients in the various programs to identify and analyze training needs before designing, developing, delivering, evaluating and validating this training for Transport Canada inspectors and technical experts. You’ll have the opportunity to be part of a team of approximately 30 training specialists, designers and graphic artists devoted to developing classroom, virtual, blended and e-learning courses related to aviation, maritime, rail, road, dangerous goods, and other connected fields. Our head office is located at 330 Sparks Street in Ottawa, and we are currently working in a hybrid model (2 days per week in the office).
It may be possible to work from a regional office, depending on availabilities.
Process Intent
Anticipatory process. A pool of essentially assessed candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions with various tenures within Transport Canada (such as Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Indeterminate, Secondment, Specified period), with CBC/CBC linguistic profile.

Education
ED: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.
When education is required, candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience
Both streams:
EX1: Experience in applying a systematic approach to training in an adult education environment.
EX2: Experience in designing e-learning, virtual training, or alternative means of learning program delivery.
Stream 1 (ED-EDS-02 Technical Training Officer):
EX3: Experience in facilitating teams composed of differing responsibilities and viewpoints involved in the design and delivery of courses.
EX4: Experience in influencing and demonstrating recommendations to management on the positioning of learning projects to meet business and strategic objectives.
Stream 2 (ED-EDS-03 Technical Training Specialist):
EX5: Experience in facilitating and managing teams composed of differing responsibilities and viewpoints involved in the design and delivery of courses.
EX6: Experience in providing authoritative advice to senior management on complex* issues.
NOTE:
*Complex: Experience will be assessed with the amount, scope and diversity of work handled and level of autonomy demonstrated. Candidates have to provide clear and specific examples in their application.
Experience
Both streams:
AEX1: Experience with one or more immersive technologies (virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality).
AEX2: Experience with learning development software, especially 3D or Virtual Reality tools.
AEX3: Experience in managing contractual processes.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)

Operational Requirements
-Candidates must be willing and able to work overtime as per operational requirements. This is infrequent and usually known in advance.
-Candidates must be willing and able to travel nationally, up to a few times a year.
