Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Yellowknife, North West Territories(NWT) and one (1) position in Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador(NL).

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of National Defence.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
ED1: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
OC1: Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position (some positions may require eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada without regard for the field of specialization).

EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Experience providing technical advice to multi-disciplined design project teams.
EX2: Experience developing terms of reference for construction consultant teams and conducting consultant design assessments.
EX3: Experience working in the field of life cycle management of infrastructure (including buildings, roads and utilities), infrastructure maintenance, maintenance planning, and environmental management.
EX4: Experience developing briefing notes, financial analytics (eg. Return on Investment), producing long term business plans, and standard operating procedures.
EX5: Experience conducting or interpreting the results of facility condition assessments.

▶ Yellowknife and Goose Bay have additional entitlements for employees, which varies with or without dependents. This includes an annual vacation travel assistance per family member as well as cost of living adjustments in the rage of:
Approx. $21K for a Yellowknife employee
Approx. $14K for a Goose Bay employee
These estimates per employee are based on the HIGHER rate WITH dependents, includes the VTA but does not factor in the adjustments that take place annually in Oct/Nov timeframe by the NJC.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
