then this opportunity is for you! We are looking for qualified teachers to join the Federal Schools team.
This is an ANTICIPATORY process by which we will establish a list/pool of fully qualified candidates to staff elementary teacher positions for various periods both permanent and short term which will vary according to the need for teachers throughout the school year at Quinte Mohawk (Tyendinaga,ON)
The pool will be used to offer acting appointments under certain circumstances including the replacement of indeterminate/permanent teachers on short or long term leave.

EDUCATION:
The minimum standard for positions classified as Elementary and Secondary Teaching (ED-EST) is either Education or Occupational Certification.
When education is required, the minimum standard is:
β’ EDU - Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
β’ OC - Possession of an acceptable teaching certificate from a province or territory of Canada (Must be certified and in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers at the time of appointment which must be maintained for the duration of employment).
NOTE TO CANDIDATES
Applicants currently in the process of obtaining their OCT Certificate may also apply.
EXPERIENCE:
β’ EX - Experience as a teacher or teacher candidate in an elementary private/public school setting demonstrated through recent performance appraisals and /or professional references, professional portfolio, practicum.

Definition: Cultural awareness requires developing knowledge, skills and attitudes for interacting with diverse people in respectful ways. It involves a continuous process of introspection, developing and practicing appropriate, relevant and sensitive practices. Working and learning together in a First Nations community requires cultural awareness to succeed.
ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
β’ AB1 - Ability to creatively develop and implement short and long term lesson plans
β’ AB2 - Ability to analyze the results of formal and informal assessment tools
β’ AB3 - Ability to communicate effectively orally

The candidate should demonstrate that they have as many of the asset qualifications as possible because these might be used to determine the priority of qualified candidates.
ASSET EDUCATION:
β’ AED1 - Additional Qualification Courses in Special education, reading, mathematics, or subject-area fields
β’ AED2 - Mohawk Language Diploma or Degree
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
β’ AEX1 - Experience working in a First Nation community
β’ AEX2 - Experience in teaching Indigenous children
ASSET ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
β’ AAB1 - Ability to communicate orally in Mohawk
β’ AAB2 - Ability to communicate in writing in Mohawk
