As a Program Officer, you will promote and deliver federal, social, and labour market funding programs and services that support employers and communities throughout Canada. You will make a difference in the lives of Canadians through these activities:
⯌ Providing information, advice and guidance to community service providers or external partners.
⯌ Assessing and making recommendations on Grants and Contributions (Gs&Cs) applications, Labour Market Impact Assessments and other employer support programs.
⯌ Interpreting and applying policies, procedures and legislation.
⯌ Negotiating funding proposals and monitoring approved projects and/or agreements.

The Program Officer position supports hybrid work. Based on reasons of efficiency, effectiveness, operational requirements and/or for reasons of collaboration, building team spirit, innovation and creating a culture of belonging, the appointee will be required to work onsite for a minimum of two days per week (40% of their regular work schedule). Prior to appointment, the hiring manager will discuss with the successful candidate(s) the options and/or specifics as it pertains to the work arrangement.

1) EDUCATION:
Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives*:
*An acceptable score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma, or an acceptable combination** of education, training and/or experience.
**The acceptable combination will be evaluated by considering successful completion of two years of secondary school and two years of training or work experience.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma is the General Competency Test (GCT1-207). (Note: Successful completion of the PSC General Intelligence Test GIT-320, which is now decommissioned, will continue to be accepted as an alternative to a secondary school diploma.)
Proof of education and, if applicable, proof of name change document(s) will be validated at a later date. Please ensure your education credential documents are readily available.

2) EXPERIENCE:
Experience in applying policies, procedures, programs, or legislation.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized* post-secondary institution.

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience in working with Indigenous peoples, individuals with diverse socio-economic backgrounds, newcomers, persons with disabilities, seniors, or youth.
2. Experience in delivering Grants and Contributions programs or services.
3. Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with community service providers or external partners.
