***WHY WORK WITH THE SERVICE LINE - DATA CENTER SECURITY ENGINEERING (DCS)?***
DCS (Data Center Security) at SSC (Shared Services Canada) is responsible for the planning, design, and deployment of IT (Information Technology) Security Infrastructure for the Government of Canada. They play a crucial role in providing IT security solutions and technical oversight for all ground-based IT security Infrastructure. DCS under the DCE (Data Center Engineering) is responsible for maintaining security standards across all EDCs (Enterprise Data Centers) and ensuring consistent and effective security practices are in place to prevent security breaches.
DCS provides its services through consultation, security design, and/or migration of network security services internally and to its 43 Partners. Some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Configuration and deployment of Medium and Enterprise grade Firewalls devices to Data Centers.
• Security enclave design within Data Center providing proper zoning and secure paths.
• Development of security designs that integrate with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) such as Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) .
• Development of security designs that leverage existing legacy non-SDN networks to deliver new services securely.
• Design and configuration of VPN (Virtual Private Network) and UTM (Unified Threat Management) services to meet security requirements.
• Oversight and guidance as the technical lead for projects and business requests on proper security zoning IAW ITSG-22 and ITSG-38.
• As part of an engineering team, produce project-specific deliverables such as HLD (High-Level Design), DDS (Detail Design Specification), Build book, etc.

EDUCATION

Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Note:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. EXPERIENCES

Recent* and significant** experience in planning, designing, building and deploying infrastructure security solutions and/or services related to network and perimeter security in a complex*** environment. (e.g., network zoning and segmentation, virtual private networks and secure remote access, next-generation or web application firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention).
E2. Recent* and significant** experience designing, engineering and documenting security solutions from client requirements using multiple products from multiple vendors.
E3. Recent* experience in providing advice or recommendations to management regarding the design, procurement, implementation or operation of Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT) security infrastructure services.
