Duties

Engineer/Architect duties include:

โ€ข Manages all aspects of real property moderate level of complexity and value projects and delivery on behalf of clients through the various phases of initiation, planning, definition, execution, and close-out;

โ€ข Provides strategic real property project management services and advice to internal and external clients on projects/programs of work; advises clients on alternative strategies and manages client expectations and industry/government relationships to ensure the objectives of projects/programs are met;

โ€ข Provides information and guidance on the technical aspects of policies, procedures, and applications specific to project integration, scope, scheduling, cost, quality, resources management, communications, risk and procurement;

โ€ข Manages resource requirements and budgets, provides contract administration by preparing contract specifications and documentation and manages the acquisition of professional service providers and ensures quality assurance during all phases of service delivery;

โ€ข Research/identifies engineering/architectural issues and challenges within projects and identifies and addresses the policy, process, and procedural requirements specific to the challenge in consultation with other specialists;

โ€ข Builds a best-practice library of experience of previous successful projects and aims for continuous improvement.

National Capital Area Project Delivery (NCAPD) : responsible for the delivery, leadership, and guidance for major office-related real property projects in the National Capital Area (NCA), with the continuing goal of planning and managing the successful delivery or major projects for PSPCโ€™s clients within the region. This includes base building projects, as well as the fit-up of office space in both PSPC crown-owned and leased locations. NCAPD has both national and regional oversight responsibilities related to stakeholder partnerships (e.g., the use of pre-established contracts for project delivery services, as well as project coordination and integration activities with Shared Services Canada), as they relate to project management and delivery.

Project Management Service Line (PMSL): regroups all project management expertise to deliver projects and is accountable nationally for the development and improvement of project management services. The sector works in close collaboration with all of Real Property Servicesโ€™ (RPS) sectors and partners to enable horizontal integration and coordination towards effectively meeting government, departmental, and branch mandates. PMSL assist with the planning and delivery of a wide range of projects such as real property asset acquisitions or improvements, fit-up of accommodation space, construction, renovation and remediation assets (building, bridge, dam, road, etc.).

The Science and Parliamentary Infrastructure Branch (SPIB) is advancing the delivery of new science infrastructure across Canada to meet the needs of our scientists into the future and carrying out important work of renewing Canadaโ€™s Parliamentary Precinct. This will include steering Canadaโ€™s 25-year plan to revitalize federal science and technology laboratories and implementing the Long-Term Vision and Plan to restore and modernize the buildings and grounds of Parliament Hill.

Preference
