Intent of the process

There are immediate needs for the following positions within the following organizations/locations:

Metrology and Imagery Technologists within Assistant Deputy Minister (Materiel) in Valcartier, QC

Mechanical Engineering Technologist and Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst within Assistant Deputy Minister (Infrastructure and Environment) in Petawawa,ON

This inventory may be used to staff various positions with various tenures, locations, language or security requirements within DND.

AE1 - Diploma of college studies (DSC) in electrical engineering technology, engineering physics technology, mechanical or civil engineering.

AE2 - Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering technologist or technician program.

AE3 - Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution specializing in relevant* engineering technology or applied science or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
*Relevant technical fields include Computer Aided Design (CAD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), electrical, building controls/automation systems, mechanical, architectural or civil technical/technology fields.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification:

AOC1 - Possession of valid certificates of qualification issued by the province/ territory OR inter-provincial red seal certificate of qualification from one of the following skilled trades.
•General Carpenter
• Electrician – All types less Domestic and Rural
• Refrigeration and Air conditioning Systems Mechanic
• Plumber
• Powerline Technician
• Steamfitter / Pipefitter
• Sheet Metal Worker
• Industrial Electrician
• Sprinkler and Fire Protection Installer
• Construction Millwright
• Gas and Oil Technician (equivalent to TSSA G1)
• Petroleum Mechanic
• Operating Engineer (equivalent to TSSA 2nd Class or higher)
• Instrumentation and Controls Technician
• Water Treatment and Distribution Systems

AOC2- Military qualification in construction engineering (Minimum QL 6A or DP-3B).

AOC3 - Possession of one or more of the following certifications:
• Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Facilities Management Professional (FMP)
• Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.)
• Certified Engineering Technician (C. Tech)
• Certified Energy Manager (C.E.M.)

Experience:

AEX1 - Experience in the use, maintenance and calibration of instruments or electronic components used in automation and control systems or measurement systems.

AEX2 - Experience in the preparation of scopes of work OR technical specifications OR cost estimates or computer aided drawings for projects.

AEX3 - Experience in the use of Microsoft 365 package and any work management software.

AEX4 - Experience in the installation and configuration of measurement systems.

AEX5 - Experience in installing and configuring high-speed video cameras.

AEX6 - Experience in the collection and processing digital signals.

AEX7 - Experience in running experimental trials.

AEX8 - Experience in configuring network equipment using the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol communication protocol.

AEX9 - Experience in the use of Doppler Radar (CW).

AEX10 - Experience using a programming language such as C++, Labview, VBA, etc.

AEX11 - Experience in scheduling works.

AEX12 - Experience as an Electrical or Electronics Technologist in either a Municipal Engineering Environment or within an Engineering Firm contributing to projects supporting one or more of the following:
• building electrical systems (including lighting controls);
• electrical distribution system performance AND operations (power quality and harmonic analysis)
• fault and arc flash analysis and reviewing AND evaluating protection settings for Low and Medium Voltage distribution systems;
• security AND safety related electronic systems (CCTV, Fire Alarms, Intrusion Alarms, Access Control).

AEX13 - Experience as an Architectural or Civil or Structural Technologist in either a Municipal Engineering Environment or within an Engineering Firm contributing to projects supporting one or more of the following:
• building structural systems (building envelope and structural supports);
• building architectural systems (interior renovations);
• evaluating civil OR municipal system performance AND operations (sanitary systems or water distribution systems or road AND pavement conditions).

AEX14 - Experience as a Mechanical or HVAC or Building Controls AND Automation or Instrumentation Technologist in either a Municipal Engineering Environment or within an Engineering Firm contributing to projects supporting one or more of the following:
• building mechanical systems (heating, ventilation, cooling, plumbing and building mechanical equipment);
• building automations systems (building controls and instrumentation);
• evaluating facility related mechanical system performance AND operations.

AEX15 - Experience in creating, maintaining, and editing GIS data using ArcGIS software including ArcView and ArcEditor.

AEX16 - Experience gathering, analyzing, interpreting geospatial data and using geospatial information for applications in natural resources and land use planning.

AEX17– Experience using National Master Specifications and preparing scopes of work and estimates.

AEX18– Experience with AutoCAD software and DND CAD Standards.

AEX19– Experience with Building Information Models (BIM) and DND BIM Standards.

AEX20– Experience with 3D CAD design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit Structure, 3D BIM models, or InfraWorks.

AEX21– Experience planning, coordinating or carrying out the technical aspects required for: (a) data acquisition; (b) analysis or processing; and (c) representation projects using advanced photogrammetric hardware and software.

AEX22– Experience working in the Federal Public Service or in the Department of National Defence or in Defence Construction Canada.

AEX23- Experience in creating, maintaining, and editing GIS data, and geographic databases.

AEX24– Experience in using survey equipment, interpreting results and uploading survey information to create site plans or update existing digital records/drawings.
